Board & Train

Let us do the training for you!

Focus Forward Dog Training's Board and Train program is like an obedience boot camp that teaches obedience, manners, and focus and is the quickest of our programs. Our 3-week program usually achieves the rough equivalent of 20 weeks of group classes. This program is designed for people with a busy schedule who don't have the time to commit to multiple training sessions a day. We give your dog a solid foundation and they will return home, happy, confident, and obedient. Included with our board and train programs is a FREE extensive one-on-one turnover lesson at the end of training where we will teach you how to maintain your dogs' training. In addition to a second FREE session within 60 days of completing the program to refresh their skills.

BOARD & TRAIN NEED TO KNOW

The following information is for clients dropping off dogs for Board and Train.

Drop-off time is between 8 am and 3 pm. You can show up anytime within that window to leave your dog with us.

You will need to bring the following on drop off:

  • Food: Please over-pack vs under-pack. Include a write-up of feeding instructions. DO NOT FORGET ANY SUPPLEMENTS OR MEDICATIONS!

  • Copy of up-to-date vaccines including both Rabies and Bordetella (must have these to stay with us)

  • Flea and tick preventative to be applied just prior to sending your dog. If your dog is on monthly heartworm prevention that includes flea and tick prevention there is no need to apply extra protection.

  • If your dog will be due for their heartworm prevention while staying with us please provide that month's dose.

  • Treats: Your dogs favorite treats as well as soft pea-sized training treats. We also recommend you bring some cans of wet food or other easily spreadable food they like such as yogurt, pumpkin, or peanut butter.

  • Balance of fees we take cash, debit, or check.

How Does it Work?

Your dog will stay in our home with us and be treated like a member of our family. Dogs are crated at night to keep them safely contained while sleeping. As well as to make sure dogs do not interact unsupervised. During the day dogs will also have periods where they are crated for relaxation time away from other dogs or people. When outside of their crate your dog will enjoy a variety of activities from training, walks at the local park, hikes at Stone Mountain, field trips to dog-friendly stores or patios, relaxation time in the living room or other areas of the house, enrichment activities such as a snuffle mat or stuffed west paw toy, playtime with other dogs (if they get along, as safety is our number one priority), or playtime with people. We have a large yard with ample room to run, play, and train. We provide videos and photos of your dog throughout their stay.

Owners go through a one-hour private lesson where we teach you to properly handle your dog when you come for your pick-up and have an additional lesson in their home for free within 60 days of your dog going home.
